Art - Fosenkaia

Forventning, Fosenkaia

The sculpture was designed by Elmgreen & Dragset at their studio in Berlin, cast in the traditional way in Pirna in Germany and has been named Forventning (Expectation). It depicts a not yet unveiled sculpture. The first sketches were available a few years ago, and in an interview with Adresseavisen, Dragset said that the shape has changed along the way. It has become a little narrower, a little more minimal and monolithic. The size is adapted to other sculptures in the city, such as The Last Viking and the Urban Engineer Dahl statue, which is also located on Fosenkaia. But it is the same basic idea, assures Dragset, it is as if there is always something to look forward to. He hopes the sculpture creates wonder and sets the imagination in the audience.
