Art - The Miner

Artist: Sigurd Nome (1960).

As is only right and proper, Bergmannen (The Miner) is placed at what is now called the Department of Geology and Mineral Resources at NTNU (the Norwegian University of Science and Technology). The statue was a gift to the institution for its anniversary in 1960. The form, as in many of Nome's works, is traditional naturalistic with a certain level of stylization and simplified forms.
